LISTENING SECTION

In this section of the test, you will have the chance to show how well you understand spoken English. There are four parts to this section, with special directions for each part.

Part I. Pictures (Questions: 1 to 3)  

Directions: There are three items in this part. For each item, you will see a picture and you will hear four short statements. The statements will be spoken TWICE. They will not be printed in your test paper, so you must listen carefully to understand what the speakers are saying. When you hear the four statements, look at the picture in your test paper and choose the statement that the best describes what you see in the picture. Then on your answer sheet, find the number of the question and mark your answer.

Example: Look at the picture and listen to the four statements.

                                                                                                                                       Sample answer :

A. The men are wearing glasses.                      

B.  One of the men is wearing a tie.                         A     B       C     D

C.  One of the men is using his cellphone.   

D. The men are wearing ties.

Choice (D) – “ The men are wearing ties.”- is the best answer to describe    the   picture. Therefore, you should mark (D) on your answer sheet.

Part II. Questions and Responses. (Questions : 4 to 7.)

Directions: There are four items in this part of the test. For each item, you will hear a question or statement spoken in English followed by three responses also spoken in English. They will be spoken TWICE. They will not be printed in your test paper, so you must listen carefully to understand what the speakers are saying. You have to choose the best response to each question or statement and mark it on your answer sheet.

Now listen to a sample question.

You will hear              : Did you fax the letter to the client?

You will also hear       :

A.    I’ll type it after lunch.       B. No, I sent it by email.          C. I collected some important facts.

The best response to the question “Did you fax the letter to the client?” is choice (B) “No, I sent it by email.” Therefore, you should mark (B) on your answer sheet.

Part III. Short Conversations. Questions : 8 to 11.

Directions: There are four items in this part of the test. For each item, you will hear a short conversation between two people. You will hear the conversations TWICE. They will not be printed in your test paper, so you must listen carefully to understand what the speakers are saying. In your test paper, you will read a question about each conversation. The question will be followed by four answers. You have to choose the best answer to each question  and mark it on your answer sheet.

Example :You will hear : Man            : Hi, how are you doing this afternoon?

                                          Woman      : Fine, thank you. Can I see the menu, please?

                                           Man          : Certainly, here you are.

                                           Woman     : Thank you.

                  You will read: Where does the dialoque probably take place?

A.      At a hospital.                                   C . At a market

B.       At a station.                                                D. At a restaurant.

Answer (D)- “At a restaurant” – is the best answer to the question “Where does the dialoque probably take place?” Therefore, you should mark (D) on your answer sheet.

Now let’s begin with question number 8

8.      What are they doing?

A.    They’re introducing each other.                      C. They’re having dinner.

B.     They’re going out together.                            D. They’re have an appointment.

9.      What does the man always do in the afternoon?

A.    Keeps his body healthy.                                  C. Talks with the woman.

B.     Does some exercises.                                      D. Does nothing.

10.  What does the woman imply?

A.     She will go to a cold place                             C. She will go with the man.

B.     She will celebrate the New Year’s Eve          D. She will see a fireworks party.

11.  What does the woman imply?

A.    She doesn’t like the Resident Evil IV movie.

B.     She agrees with the man.

C.     She has never seen such a good film like Resident Evil IV.

D.    She is angry.

Part IV. Short Talks (Questions: 12 to 15).

Directions: In this part of the test, you will hear two short talks. Each will be spoken TWICE. They will not be printed in your test paper, so you must listen carefully to understand and remember what is being said. In your test paper, you will read two questions about each short talk. Each question will be followed by four answers. You have to choose the best answer to each question  and mark it on your answer sheet.
